Linen can be washed or dry-cleaned with confidence. When dealing with finely tailored, fully-lined garments or furnishing products of heavy-weight linen and complex construction, dry cleaning by reputable professionals is required. Lighter-weight and unlined linen products may be laundered by hand or machine with proper washing agents and cycle settings.

Many detergents today contain non-chlorine bleaching and optical whitening agents that work well on white or natural linens. However, they are not recommended for colored linens as they can promote spotting and discoloration. Never use chlorine bleach when laundering any linen item. Fabric softeners may be used.

Linen irons superbly, resulting in a crisp, firm finish. Use light spray starch or sizing to facilitate wrinkle removal and impart a smooth luster. If preferred, iron on the wrong side to preserve the texture of the weave and avoid shine.

Regardless of the cleaning method used, linen's inherent strength and resiliency
ensure years of enjoyment with a modicum of care.
